You hate iPhoto, Gordon? Photoshop Elements (formerly Photoshop Album) is one of the few reasons I still keep Windows on VMWare. I was just about ready to switch to iPhoto '09.

What is it you hate about the software?

Mac for 25 years and PC for 10 (ie 10 years of Mac at home and PC at work). Although Windows is much better than it was when I was first forced to transition, there are still annoyances. But also benefits: tool bar across the bottom much better than Mac program bar in relation to documents - Mac bar better for programs than Start button. Windows long file names; Mac limitation annoying.
Mac find file brilliant, Windows terrible. Windows habit of saving email attachments in temp file (at least on my network) and not in a real place - so if you forget to resave you lose your amendments.

And I agree about inconsistencies and wierdness about some OSX features and iLife applications. I really hate iPhoto and gave up on Mail and Address book more than 5 years ago [use something we based?].

But some of your complaints I don't get: My Power book has home end page up and page down? Buy a keyboard and you get forward delete button (you can't seriously do all your typing on the laptop keyboard?). Never noticed the resizing issue - I think you may be applying the Windows metaphor to the Mac interface when the Mac does something different?).

Oh and let's not start on inconsistencies between Mac and WIndows versions of Word.

So in summary: different animals. Both could do better.

As a long time mac user, I couldn't agree more. I always find it fascinating and frustrating how such obvious omissions are overlooked by mac fans.

It's especially annoying when assisting someone who recently switched - the number of times you have to say "do this, oh, except if you're here".

Another obvious annoyance is the lack of a clear and simple way to burn a multi-session CD, the really bad handling of notes editing in Address Book and iCal's ridiculously unusable "info" panel, that literally runs off the screen in some cases.
